I have seen so many in this forum spits on L1. This is really bad, we all belong to one family and one kind.
If some one thinks L1 is more advantagous why don't those people join TCS or some thing...
Well let me put some of the Disadv.
1. On L1 one canot change the job. If you want to change the employer you should have H1B
2. L1B salaries are 20% less than H1B on AVG
3. If employer want to send you back (For any silly stupid reason) you are gone
4. Most of the companies like TCS, INFOSYS, WIPRO won't file green cards for 99.99% people
5. On avg a L1 person stays in US in a trip for 1 - 2 years.
Now think!
And above all as I said all those L1 are living in this country legally like me and you, living a painful uncertain life. Because the time is bad now we can't blame them.
Some one talking about getting laid off with TCS employee. just recapture the 5 or 8 years back when you replaced a AMERICAN CITIZEN and you can't call people as idiots ... its street clear.

I sent #7001 form in second week of October , i emailed CIS Ombudsman3-4 days back . I received this email today....

My already high regard for IV has increased 10 fold with this clear message of yours. It was high time for all the people issuing threats that�s they would leave IV if there ideas were not accepted by IV, to just leave and do everybody a favor.

IV is not going to adopt this as an agenda item. The reason is quite simple: H4s not being able to work is low on priority of problems that need to be fixed in order to mitigate retrogression or other consequences of retrogression.
And frankly, we do not have extra kind of support to add new agenda items on our list.
A whopping 200 people signed up for recurring contributions of $20 per month. Out of 8000 people who registered here and got emails about it. However, almost every week, there is no shortage of new ideas and no shortage of opinions on those new ideas from people.
We get $20 deposits each month from 200 people. But as far as opinions are concerned, we get hundreds of them each week. How nice? I wish we had some machine to convert those opinions into dollars.

We have to talk to people and participate in various forums to make them aware of our cause. Standing and protesting is not going to help us, because our voice will still be lost in the din...we need to speak where it matters and be heard where it matters...

Dear Friends,
Got Green cards and Welcome notices for me and my wife .
Surprisingly no uscis e-mail and online status is still "initial review"
Our journey in short :
How long in US : 10+ years
First Labor in 2002 . Changed job in three years before approval of labor
Second Labor in 2004 . Approved in 2007
Filed I140 and 485 - in July 2007
Since then I was enjoying EAD / AP with no complain .
I donate to IV now and then , but for some reason only once (for few days) got access to IV-Donor Forum . But always had a faith that IV is doing good work .
From non-donor IV forums and other forums I noticed that USCIS are transferring leftover Visas to other EB categories . I waited to see some thing coming to EB3 but ......nothing came .
My Lawyer told me that I can port to EB2 and it is a normal a process.
1. New Perm
a. Filed in Feb and approved in 10 days ( Prep work takes 3 to 4 months before filing )
b. Requirement : 4 years Engineering + 5 years minimum experience
2. EB2 I140 (TSC)
a. Filed in March - Premium Processing
b. My Lawyer sent interfiling letter along with I140 filing
c. Approved in 7 days (A# and Priority Date retained)
d. Same week got Green Cards and Welcome Notices:) - Super-fast Approval
e. No email and no updates on USCIS website
Not sure about the USCIS and Lawyer fees . My company paid for every thing.
Hope every one get the desired freedom asap and don't have to wait like me for 10+ years

The point is what did we lose by calling. It took us a call which any way is free. Took 2-3 minutes of our time which other wise we were not planning to use in any other better activity. So even if the campaign fails ( I pray it does not) still we havent lost finacially or in any way. Atleast it brought so many people together to do something constructive. Made people understand how a bill works in senate.
To your other point that senetors do not care about non voters then then the only other way is lobbying and paying for campaign funds. Can we do that the answer is plain NO. Most people on H1B are working for blod sucking consultants who pa them far less than what they deserve. How much can they contribute financially if they have dependent wife an kid here and parents in home country. Add to this the job insecurity in current market and there is no guarranty that paying one time will bring any results. Least this way every one contributes.

I have taken my Ex - employer to DOL and USCIS and I was successful getting my money back.
If you go with lawsuit then it becomes partially a Civil case rather than criminal offense.
If any one needs info how to proceed send me a PM

This is a good option-to sue your employer but if you want a free attorney then let DOL W&H division do that job for you. Their officers will audit the employer and will check their records for the last 5 years and will also fine them.

I didn't find where in the PDF AILA is saying the definition is illegal!
They provide one example a court ruling where the EE definition was established in the case of an insurance agent. But such an issue has already been address by the EE memo by USCIS (Temporary/Occasional Off-Site Employment).

I am sorry, not a computer guy, but can mass mailing for funding alerts from IV be possible to "loyal customers only"? I am not sure I am giving the right idea/ thought. But what I am thinking is lets say this Administrative cost re-imbursment works, can we send to selected 1000- 2000 non-core member like anzerraja or khodalmd (for example) and ask them to send money? Like how these sticky works...just a solid click and send money sticky. Or I dont know ask everyone...see how many people come in and divide the money...it can be 100 or more.

I applaud you for starting this effort but the petition needs correction, You are calling Lou Dobbs of lying but all the instances you quote are from Sen Tancredo . You may accuse Lou Dobbs of supporting these lies by letting them stand unchallenged not correcting them.

However this petition is about that one particular show. We need to make a beginning somewhere. Lou Dobbs must be held responsible for the veracity of the content aired on his show.

if you are single and apply for 485 and get a EAD can still being ur wife from India on H4 as long as u DO NOT use EAD and DO NOT get 485 approved.
EAD to me has major benefits for the spouse. I think everyone agrees that 485 retrogression gona happen ... so if that happens u cannot get a 485 approval or add ur wife till almost close to 485 approval .. as ur PD wont be current. In this period u will never be able to use EAD as ur dependent will go out of H4 status ...
Also it is never recommended to use EAD and maintain H1 status ... so to me if you are single and have no plans as of yet to get married u will not use the interim benefits and pay EAD fee every year.
u will be in the 485 queue and if anything changes about green card u are atleast far enough to not to start ur application from beginning... also if for some reason u decide to use ur EAD the way around is ur wife to get another Visa like F1 ....

u will be in the 485 queue and if anything changes about green card u are atleast far enough to not to start ur application from beginning... also if for some reason u decide to use ur EAD the way around is ur wife to get another Visa like F1 ....
