I initiated the transfer on 19th and they delivered it today i.e 3 working days after (which is two days less than there norms). Also the rate is 43.35 today as per the calculator and they show a rate of 43.01 for my transfer. ICICI is a known thief. That is how the company is made. Its like "there is a CRIme after every successful company".

I second this. The speculation layer has to go away and only real gains made in housing should be visible. You might as well buy a house on foreclosure if you wait longer.

There is not much we can do. From Greg's yesterday's latest response that there were very few which were returned/rejected on July 2nd itself and this thread proves that we are not alone ...there are so many and status is unknown. Matthew Oh is also suggesting that it will be receipted. I think we are all safe and with time we will get receipt. Nobody...none of the attorney's are suggesting refiling. Now the thought that whether my packet was properly filed or not? I think that will always be there in the back of one's mind but if the attorney has done his/her job correctly I think we should not worry. Its not rocket science and documents required for filing are well known...so I would discount this risk. It appears we are all safe because as we all know that no rejection notices have been generated, packets if returned should have come back by now as per Greg....All in all it all points towards our packets being on hold there at respective centers....but as you rightly pointed out..towards the last week of July keep calling centers to know..but even before that keep eye on check clearing as that by far is the best and earliest clue that all is well with the case.

Have to watch this one carefully. Kennedy (one of the co-sponsors of this bill) had thrown EB immigrants under the bus last year while favoring FB and illegals (in CIR). Need to be see the contents of this bill very carefully. Esp this clause from the AILA report:
"Addressing the decades-long backlogs for certain countries by raising the per-country immigration limits from 7 percent to 10 percent of total admission".
The CIR in 2007 had a similar clause, bumping up the country-limit from 7% to 10%, BUT it had another related clause that stopped rollover of visa's in the last quarter.
That would be disastrous for people from India and China as number of visas issued for the whole year will go DOWN!!
The recapture clause sounds promising , provided there is atleast an even split between EB and FB (of EB coming before FB). If they do it the other way around (like they had done in the last recapture for schedule-A nurses) then EB people will see no benefit of the recapture, and will end up losing one more quick-fix option.
Eagerly waiting for the bill text so the dissection and analysis can begin!!

Exactly.. You apply now.. no way it is going to get approved in time.. substitution approval takes anywhere between 4 months to 1 yr. Most common I heard is 6 months. you try to slide just under the door.. they aren't going to be happy abt it..

That is so strange.....Our dates also match...I too got an email on 28th September ...this is so bizzare..,,have you received the notice from USCIS ?? Since you have an aproved GC it sounds even more bizzare ...please keep me posted of any developements and I will do the same ...
or may be a virus attack ... too coincidental to have sent notice on same day ...

EAD & AP is luxury & aggressive. Keeping H1B active is being conservative and playing with probability and backup. It depends on your nature. Go for it!!
If you are planning on a big investment like buying a home or something like that. It is better to stay on H1B so you have a backup if something goes wrong with GC.
I have seen problems with cases using AC21 when they apply it asking for more details and also sometimes ur I-140 is revoked by your sponsoring employer and USCIS may trigger a NOID for you. Ofcoourse you can file MTR and prove that them that it is legitimate to change jobs using AC21, but if you have H1B also then you have a piece of mind.
Also for the first job change use AC21 and do H1B transfer also and see for 6 months so that USCIS is already aware that you ve changed company. You can address any RFE/NOID. But later on you are on ur own.

I am still on H1 (not utilized EAD), the visa on my passport expired last year. Planning to visit India next week, should I be getting a visa stamped or use AP?

What if you get GC first and some problem with your wifes petition?....Gray area no one knows
What if your wife is on F1 (got EAD and AP) and she graduates waiting for a long time for GC ..can she jump to another status ...Gray area..If yes any problem with her status...no one knows

No I wouldn't. Get it from the your child's pediatrician since they know the case history and will be able to word it correctly. Remember that the letter from the pediatrician is the basis which the certified civil curgeon for USCIS will use to apply for a waiver if he/she thinks it is necessary.
